LEGO CLUB The LEGO Club will start again in January. There will be a few changes to the format this year. There are two age groups and they will get separate times. The two age categories are 5-6 and 7-9.

Because of the numbers involved it is likely that each member will only get one session a month. Current members will be contacted when their slot is available.

There will be a separate LEGO activity for those 10 and above, our Public Libraries Project Prize award winning LEGO Animation.

LEGO BUILDING COMPETITION

With 67 different entries, over 70 competitors and a massive turnout on the day, we can safely say it was a massive event.

The quality of entries was such that I did not envy the judges task. Despite that, they did a great job in selecting our winners and Abbeyleix Library would like to thank Jessica and Faolán for all their hard work.

We would also like to thank all our master builders for their hard work and quality builds. The ingenuity and creativity on display was staggering and the stories to go with the sets were also brilliant.

Below is just a sample of builds that were on display, to see the rest please check out our Facebook page and help us select the winner of the Online Favourite Prize.

Laois Geology & Minecraft Rocks

For National Heritage we had Michele Castiaux from the Irish Geological Association presented a fun and informative workshop on geology and Irish rocks. We also talked about the popular game Minecraft and the rocks used in that.

We had a great time and would recommend people to check out Michele’s website https://www.geologyandenvironment.com/

Spring into Storytime: Storytelling and Crafty Arts

Thanks to all the children who participated in our Spring into Storytime Crafts session last Friday. We had a great time and we hope everyone else did as well.

Keep an eye out for further sessions.
