A database summarising the results of many archaeological excavations in Laois (and nationwide) is available online in a Heritage Council-funded project.

Roads

Significant archaeological remains have been found at several sites in Laois during preparations for road construction. Leaflets detailing archaeological remains uncovered before and during construction of recent roads have been produced by Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

Leaflets which are available to download from Transport Infrastructure Ireland, or which can be ordered from Laois Heritage Office include:

More detailed articles on several of the Laois excavations and research results from other parts of the country are available in the magazine “Seanda” produced by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (formerly the National Roads Authority).
