Mountmellick Town Council

Cuireadh tús le Comhairle Baile Mhóinteach Mílic, mar aon le gach Comhairle Baile, sa 18ú haois.  Bronnadh formhór a gcuid cumhachtaí ar na Comhairlí Baile faoin Town Improvement (Ireland) Act 1854.

Mountmellick Town Council like all Town Councils, have their origin in the 1800’s, obtaining most of their statutory powers under the Town Improvement (Ireland) Act 1854.As a democratically elected Town Authority, Mountmellick Town Council see their role as primarily to provide civic leadership and a focus for the town and its citizens. Mountmellick is the third largest town in Laois (after Portlaoise and Portarlington). It has a population of 4,137(Census 2006).
