Investment Programme
Water Services Investment Programme (WSIP) 2009-2011
Rapid economic progress in recent years has placed unprecedented pressure on our infrastructure particularly Water and Wastewater facilities. A major challenge for Laois County Council is to ensure that infrastructural development keeps pace with economic growth. The provision of adequate Water and Wastewater infrastructure is fundamental to economic growth and to meeting the particular requirements of industrial, residential, agricultural and commercial developments.
Until recently the investment in Water and Wastewater services has been largely directed towards providing the capacity for existing requirements. The focus is now on sustainable investment relating to specific Economic, Environmental and Social requirements, whilst achieving the best possible value for money. The successful completion of the Capital Projects is vital for the long term development of the County. The projects currently underway, with funding approved by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (DEHLG) are listed in the
Capital Projects Office
The Water Services Capital Projects Office is responsible for delivering the major Water and Wastewater schemes that the DEHLG has approved under the Water Services Investment Program.
