SUMMER READING CHALLENGE 2017

Summer Stars Reading Challenge:

The national Irish Summer Reading Program returns this summer.  The name has been retained with a nice fresh look.  The illustrations in the logo and various materials were created by author and illustrator Alan Nolan.

Registration:

Children up to and including those 12 years old may be registered for Summer Stars from the launch which takes place  on Friday 9th June.

1)To register a child MUST be a member of the library.

2) They should fill the registration form attached.  We do not require library members to have parents present to register for the challenge but…

ANY CHILD PUT FORWARD TO RECEIVE A MEDAL MUST HAVE  THEIR PARENTS SIGNATURE FOR PHOTO CONSENT ON THE REGISTRATION FORM.

3) When registered each child will receive

-Overview

-Reading card

-Book Review form

-Sticker

-Wristband

4)  As each book is read and returned, the library staff will stamp the child’s Reading Card.  Some branches prefer to keep reading cards for children, others may choose to make that the child’s responsibility.

5) 4 books:  after reading 4 books the child will receive a bookmark

6) 8 books: after reading 8 books the child will receive a pencil

Each branch library will hold their own medal presentation in early September.
