LEGO IS BACK!

To celebrate the return of the much loved LEGO Club, we are having a LEGO Building competition. The idea is to build your own original creation and bring it into the Abbeyleix Library, where it will be displayed for the duration of the competition.

Entries must be brought into the library between Saturday November 25th and Saturday 2nd December.

The LEGO will start back up after this event and we would encourage all to come along that day to register for the new LEGO club.

Laois Geology & Minecraft Rocks

For National Heritage we had Michele Castiaux from the Irish Geological Association presented a fun and informative workshop on geology and Irish rocks. We also talked about the popular game Minecraft and the rocks used in that.

We had a great time and would recommend people to check out Michele’s website https://www.geologyandenvironment.com/

Spring into Storytime: Storytelling and Crafty Arts

Thanks to all the children who participated in our Spring into Storytime Crafts session last Friday. We had a great time and we hope everyone else did as well.

Keep an eye out for further sessions.

LEGO Club

Abbeyleix Library LEGO club started on October 22nd 2016 with a Halloween themed event.

Since then we have had 45 different sessions with over 600 attendees creating their own little LEGO visions.

Here’s a sample of their work below. Click on the images for a closer look.

We’ve had some great fun since October,

But like all goods things, the LEGO Club must come to an end. Don’t fret, it will be back in time for a Halloween special.

The format will be changing but all those who have their names on the list, will still be on the list in October.

Thanks everyone for all the support and donations. And thanks to all the kids who have made it a joy to run the LEGO Club.

See you in October.
