Capital Projects

Rapid economic progress in recent years has placed unprecedented pressure on our infrastructure particularly water and wastewater facilities, a major challenge facing us is the requirement of ensuring that infrastructural development keeps pace with and facilitates such economic growth.  The provision of adequate water and wastewater infrastructure is fundamental to economic growth and to meeting the particular requirements of industrial, residential, acricultural and commercial developments.

The Water Services Capital Projects Office is responsible for advancing the major water and wastewater schemes that have been approved for funding by the Department of the Environment Heritage and Local Government under the Water Services Investment Program. Investment in water and sanitary services in the past has largely been directed towards meeting capacity and other requirements.  Policy has now been re-appraised in today’s changing circumstances so as to ensure sustainable investment, relating to specific economic or social requirements, and representing the best possible value for money.

The successful completion of these Capital Projects  is vital for the long term economic and environmental development of the County.
