Water Services GIS

COMPLETE INFORMATION SYSTEM (CIS) is an application for the mapping and management of Water Services assets including pipelines, valves, meters connections and manholes. This system was successfully implemented in Laois in 2001 and since then all the group and public water schemes have been mapped. LCC are currently waiting for the next version of this software to be released, which will hopefully facilitate water management and conservation operations.

ACQUIFER PROTECTION SYSTEM is an adaptation of the existing PLANREG software. This system has the Acquifer Protection Zonings for the county as the primary layer with the Ordnance Survey Ireland mapping in the background. Engineers in Water Services, Environment and the Area Offices use this system to accurately locate planning applications and to define the necessary response for on-site systems, land-spreading and landfills.
