What is the Strategy?
The County Development Board Strategy "Realising Our Potential" sets out the following vision for Laois:
“To create an environment where all individuals and communities in County Laois are equipped to maximise their potential and quality of life”.
The strategy comprises 6 themes, each with a number of sub-themes. These themes and sub-themes are set out below:

Reviews of the CDB Strategy took place in 2005 and 2009, following which several objectives were targeted to be concentrated upon and achieved by the final year of the Strategy, 2012.
3 Task Groups were established in 2009 with aims to achieve the objectives:
