Planning Online Systems

We have two planning online systems to help users find out information about planning applications and view maps relevant to these applications.

EPLAN – This is an internet version of our internal planning system available to the public on our website.  A member of the public can look up the status of any planning application within the county and can search for each application by applicant name, address or number. All planning applications received in the Planning section are scanned and uploaded onto this system. The search facility on this system offers several options for users. The user doesn't need to know all these options i.e. if only the name is entered the system will bring back all applications with that name.

Planning Number: If the planning application number is know this can be entered.
Name: The user can enter the name/names of the applicant.
Site Address: The address of the site can be entered.

These options can be filtered further by using the Limit Result drop down menu to specify a time limit on the application or by selecting the correct category that the application falls into i.e if a decision is due on the application.

There is also a GIS Button on the results page of each application that allows the user to view a location map of each site. This GIS tool was developed within Laois County Council through Geomedia WebMap and is unique to Laois.ie.

GPLAN -  The system allows the user to search planning applications by townland name or planning application number and zoom to the exact location of a planning application.
