Buckle UP!
The saying is true "our children are our future", this is why we need to educate them on road safety.
We in Laois County Council are deeply committed to providing education for children and young drivers to ensure that they are aware of best practise in road safety.
Our Road Safety Officer, Ms Yvonne O'Reilly promotes road safety in Laois by:
- Visiting primary & secondary schools to give talks
- Inviting instructors who provide specialised road safety training eg "Safe Cycle Programme", "Drive for Life" to the schools.
The Council subsidises the costs for these programmes. - Facilitates in the setting up of new road safety programmes such as the "Walking Bus".
- Assessing traffic hazards at school locations and providing solutions by means of flashing lights, ramps & requesting enforcement when necessary.
- Member of Laois County Council & An Garda Siochána Joint Committe
