Making a Planning Application - What to Submit
The Planning Application Form must be completed in full with all questions satisfactorily and accurately answered. The application form must be signed by the applicant or agent.
The completed application form must be accompanied by:-
- Relevant page in newspaper in which notice of application is published. The notice must be published in one or other of the following newspapers:- and comply with the following requirements: - Newspaper Notice Requriements
- A copy of the which is erected or affixed on site or structure: - Site Notice Directions.
- 6 copies of a location map to a scale of not less than 1 : 1000 in built up areas and 1 : 2,500 in all other areas duly marked or coloured so as to identify clearly the land or structure to which the application relates and the boundaries thereof. The ownership of adjoining land and any existing wayleaves should be indicated on the location maps.
- A plan showing the position of the site notice or notices affixed to the land or structure.
- 6 copies of such plans, including a site or layout plan and drawings of floor plans, elevations and sections drawn to a scale of not less than 1 : 200.(Site or layout plans shall be drawn to a scale of not less than 1 : 500).
Plans, drawings and maps accompanying a planning application should follow the following requirements: - Plans, Drawings and Maps Requirements - A schedule listing the drawings, plans and maps being submitted.
- Where appropriate, a certificate issued by the Planning Authority in accordance with Part V of the Act (housing strategy) or if such certificate has been applied for but not issued, a copy of the application form.
- The appropriate fee - Planning Fees. [The floor area to be used in calculating fees is the total area measured inside the external walls.]
- Where applicable, a copy of Site Suitability Assessment: Site Suitability Assessment Form
Note:
All of the above must be included with the application, otherwise, the application shall be invalid and shall be returned to the applicant.
The period between the publication of the notice and the receipt of the application by the Planning Authority must not be greater than 14 days.

Outline Application:
An outline application shall, in addition to the relevant page in the newspaper, copy of site notice, 6 copies of the location map, plan showing the position of the site notice, certificate under Part V of the Act and appropriate fee, be accompanied only by such plans and particulars as are necessary to enable the Planning Authority to make a decision in relation to the siting, layout or other proposals for development in respect of which a decision is sought.
