Tourism Officer

Laois County Council employed a Tourism Officer in 2003. The Tourism Officer works on strategic projects under the auspices of Laois County Council. The role of the Tourism Officer includes:

  • Researching potential opportunities that E.U., national and local plans present for County Laois in tourism.
  • Liaising with local interests, including state agencies, local development bodies, the business sector, and the voluntary community sector regarding the identification of suitable projects, which could be resourced through the National plan, the E.U.
  • Assisting with the identification of new opportunities aimed at tourism development in the County.
  • Providing advice and assistance to tourism providers within the county.
  • Providing assistance to the Regional Tourism Authority in attending trade shows,carrying out inspections and developing marketing plans.
  • Working on the Board of Directors of Laois Tourism, assisting in developing promotional material, attending promotional events, assisting with grant aid applications, organising events.Managing tourism projects under the auspices of Laois County Council.
