Laois County Council Buildings
Durrow CourthouseIn partnership with the local community, and with the assistance of the Heritage Council, Laois County Council is undertaking conservation and refurbishment work at Durrow Courthouse. The courthouse roof was repaired in 2005, and a major refurbishment in planned, with the help of funding from the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government. The project is now at tender stage, and further information will be posted as it becomes available.
Mountmellick Courthouse
Following conservation work, the Courthouse in Mountmellick now houses the offices of Mountmellick Town Council, and plans are well underway for the development of a library in the building.
Clonaslee Heritage Centre
The former Church of Ireland in Clonaslee was conserved and converted by Laois County Council in partnership with the local community, and is now a community-run facility, housing the Clonaslee library, heritage centre and community meeting space.

Other buildings
Work has commenced on Abbeyleix Market House, which will be conserved and refurbished as a library for the town. Other buildings of architectural importance in the ownership of Laois County Council will be conserved and revitalised on a rolling programme, as funds permit.
