Laois Heritage Office aims to bring Heritage to the heart of life in Laois.
We aim to promote pride in the heritage of Laois, and to increase awareness, appreciation and enjoyment of all aspects of the County's heritage. This is achieved through:
- Carrying out surveys, research and conservation projects under the
Laois Heritage Plan
- Helping communities and individuals to plan and carry out
heritage projects
- Raising awareness of the heritage of the County, through events like Heritage Week, projects like the Laois Heritage Trail and publications like the book on the Mountmellick Canal

- Architecture
- Biodiversity (Flora, fauna and wildlife habitats)
- Landscapes and seascapes
- Geology
- Heritage parks and gardens
- Inland waterways, such as the Grand Canal, rivers and lakes.
