Upcoming Events

• The Arts Office, Laois County Council will host a photographic exhibition by Ballyroan photographer John Lalor entitled ‘Third Worlds Eyes”, opening on Wednesday, June 2nd at Áras an Chontae at 7.30pm. This wonderful exhibition can be viewed by the public in Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise from Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm and it will run from Wednesday 2nd June until Friday 25th June.

  New Per Cent For Art work for Mountmellick Library and Art Gallery - The artist is Peter McMorris, Screggan, Tullamore, Co Offaly.  A four part installation, the work is screen-prints on polycarbonate plastic medium consisting of a series of contemporary works that sit easily in a modern environment while sympathetically referencing the history and geography of the building and the area. 
• The Arts Office, Laois County Council are delighted to announce another programme of Summer Arts Workshops throughout the county in July.  The programme includes a rich mix of arts activities including; art, dance, creative writing, kindermusic, and pottery in the following areas.
  • Art Workshops in Emo, Mountmellick, Portlaoise and Stradbally
  • Creative Writing workshops in Portlaoise
  • Pottery workshops in Portlaoise and in Durrow
  • Kindermusic workshops in Portlaoise and in Durrow.

  The Arts Office will also facilitate the following workshops in July as part of Laois County Council social inclusion policy.  Art workshops in the MDA Mountmellick, in association with the Youth Development Centre and Dance Workshops in Scoil Bhride, Knockmay in association with the Knockmay Family Resource Centre and The Birchgrove Centre.
