Course for storytelling/reading for children in the Libraries

The FETAC Early Readings Skills Course was run in partnership with The Arts Office, Laois VEC, and the County Library and a total of eighteen students who took part in the ten week course were presented with their certificates at an awards night in Aras an Chontae in early 2006.  The course was carried out in 2005 and it has come to fruition following pilot sessions held by Laois County Council in 2004.  Designed to explore the potential of reading activities during children’s development from 0-8 years and it enables the participant to develop their ability to select and use books with children in early reading activities through the promotion of good practice, equality of opportunity and respect for diversity.  Storytelling/reading to and with children and books and stories.  The panel of storytellers/readers have taken part in sessions in libraries in the county and in community settings.

Bealtaine 2009

What is Bealtaine?

Bealtaine is the May-time arts festival celebrating creativity in older age. Established in 1996, Bealtaine is the world’s first country-wide celebration of renewal, creativity and growth in ageing involving all art forms.
