The Dunamaise Arts Centre

The Dunamaise Arts Centre is a purpose built theatre and arts centre situated in the centre of Portlaoise town. The centre opened in May 1999 comprising of a 240 seat theatre, exhibition gallery, restaurant and workshop space.  The centre hosts the best in national and international performing and visual arts, including some of the biggest names in theatre, music, opera, dance, film and the visual arts.

Background information
The Dunamaise Arts Centre was established by Laois County Council in response to the local need for a quality arts facility containing a theatre, art gallery and restaurant.  It has been a huge success in the county and attracts an audience from outside the county also.  It now operates as an independent company with significant local authority involvement.
