Drinking Water Quality
Drinking water is supplied in County Laois by two means; Public Water Supply Schemes and Group Water Supply Schemes
Laois County Council has statutory functions with regard to the monitoring of drinking water supplies in the County as laid out in the European Communities (Drinking Water) Regulations, 2000. Technicians from the Council Water Laboratory regularly sample all Water Supply Schemes in the County. The sampling frequency is determined by the Regulations.
The Council is also required to report all drinking water monitoring results to the Environmental Protection Agency, who publish an annual report on The Quality of Drinking Water in Ireland.
