Kyletalesha Landfill
We operate the sole landfill site for the County at Kyletalesha. The landfill site operates under Environmental Protection Agency Waste Licence since May 2000. The landfill site accepts non-hazardous municipal, commercial and industrial waste from the county at a rate of up to a maximum of 47,100 tonnes per year.

Please note important information regarding charges at Kyletalesha Landfill - valid from 01 September 2011:
The Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government will increase the landfill levy by €20 per tonne (from €30 per tonne) to €50 per tonne, before vat, from 01 September 2011.
The following revised landfill charges, including levy and VAT, will apply from 01 September 2011:
- Household waste: minimum charge, up to 40kg, €15.
- Standard charge: €15 for first 40kg plus €165 per tonne for every tonne over the minimum weight.
- Waste Collection Permit Holders - €165 per tonne.
- Portlaoise Recycling Centre – €3 gate fee charge will apply from 01 September 2009 (coins only as no change is given). This site is for domestic users only. Full details are available on: Portlaoise Recycling Centre
- Kyletalesha Landfill – Access by KEYFOB only with a minimum credit balance of €15.
- Household Waste, Timber and Grass Cuttings – Minimum Charge €15 (up to 40 kgs of waste) plus €142/tonne above 40kg (includes €30 per tonne Government Levy) - price valid until 31 August 2011 due to Government Levy increase from 01 September 2011.
- Hedge Cuttings - €15 (up to 40kg)
- Construction and Demolition Waste (as classified by Landfill Manager) €2/tonne with minimum charge €2.
Trailer covers must be used when visiting the landfill, otherwise entry will be refused. Unsecured waste may cause litter pollution.
Opening Hours from Monday 06 July 2009 - currently valid:
- Monday - Friday: 8am to 3.30pm
- Saturday: 8am to 1pm
- Sundays/Bank/Public Holidays: Closed
