Local Authority requirements Under the Abattoir Act

Under the terms of the above Act, local authorities are required to provide ante and post mortem inspections of all animals slaughtered for human consumption in abattoirs licensed under the act located within its functional area.
The necessary inspections at the abattoirs located within the county are under taken by 1 part-time and 2 full-time Council vets, under the supervision of the Councils full-time veterinary officer.
