Development of new Traincare Depot by Coras Iompair Eireann / Iarnroid Eireann at Togher :

A major new National Traincare Maintenance facility in Portlaoise, to service Iarnroid Eireann’s new intercity fleet is located on a 39 acre site to the west of Portlaoise Town Centre. The € 65 Million purpose built facility brings an estimated 51 jobs to the Portlaoise area . A new € 262 million fleet of Intercity Cars, which will give greater frequency, comfort and quality service to Intercity customers across the Network, are maintained at the Portlaoise Centre as well as other carriages.
