Inland Port and National Business Park at Portlaoise Interchange

Enterprise Park 2

Work is ongoing on a 250 acre Logistics and Distribution Park in Portlaoise, which is the first facility of its kind int the country. The project seeks to take advantage of the town's designation as a Local Capital, National Inland Port, and Key Transport Node in the Government's 2002 National Spatial Strategy.

Irish Rail have oepned their National Traincare Depot in Togher which services their new Intercity fleet of trains. This facility has created 51 jobs in Togher since it opened. Portlaoise was chosen as the best location to build the facility because of its strategic position in rleation to the Irish Rail Intercity Rail Network. This facility has been deigned with the most modern environmental features incorporated, including water recycling, pumpinng and fuelling mechanisams to prevent oil and diesel spillages.

Laois County Council have also granted Planning Permission to Irish Rail to erect a training facility, canteen, meeting room, administration area, changing and locker rooms and car parking on this site.
